A Nikkei poll taken just after the announced of a snap election shows that those who approve of Abe number just 5 percentage points above those who disapprove.

The ongoing failures of Abenomics will continue to erode his support; the latest polls show that the margin approval over disapproval has eroded to 5-7 percentage points, depending on the poll.
