Security Challenges in Ecuador

I am sharing with you my article "Security Challenges in Ecuador," just published in the 2018 edition of the SOUTHCOM magazine Diálogo. Although the article was written several months ago prior to significant incidents of violence in the north of Ecuador on its border with Colombia, and President Moreno's naming of Dr. Oswaldo Jarrin, it discusses some of the dynamics that ultimately gave rise those problems; you may find it a useful brief overview of Ecuador's security challenges and the capabilities of its military in contributing to the response to that challenge, as well as the relationship with the U.S.
The article is available at the website for Dialogo:
By coincidence, I have just returned from a research trip to Quito, Ecuador, and in addition to the present work, anticipate sharing additional works with you as well on the current state of affairs in Ecuador in the near future. Thank you, as always, for your interest in my work.
