David Maywald

David Maywald is an experienced Portfolio Manager, Analyst and infrastructure investor. Over two decades he worked at several investment firms from start-ups through to national and global asset managers. He helped RARE Infrastructure grow to A$11 billion Funds Under Management in less than a decade, where he led the push for implementation of Sustainable Investment practices. This included becoming a Signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment in 2010, signing up as the first Australian client of Sustainalytics, and personally writing the first case study of ESG Integration for Global Listed Infrastructure.

The common theme running through David's professional career has been the coverage of global equities in the Infrastructure & Utility sectors, from Sydney. His regional focus has been on Australia, Europe & the UK. His professional interests are in micro and macroeconomics, valuation and portfolio construction. All of the above were an ideal fit for David's responsibilities at RARE Infrastructure. This solid foundation has provided a platform to grow into asset allocation, top-down, strategic and governance opportunities. 

David is currently a Non Executive Director at renewable developer SolarShare, and is an Expert contributor to the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative (ASFI).
